What this World AIDS Day reminds us…

Uncategorized

This World AIDS Day we celebrate our loved ones that we’ve lost, and the helpless and ill, that left before their time.

We say their names and share their memories.

But this World AIDS Day also reminds us of the activists that manifested and demanded an end to the negligence; of the scientists and doctors that dedicated their life to developing treatment; of the trials and the side effects that our peers endured; and of the funerals and burials, so frequent, yet each of them memorable.

This World AIDS Day reminds us that resilience is nothing without the ability to thrive, and that our message can go unheard, our needs can be ignored, and our legacy can be erased, if we let it.

Our communities are suffering and resources are shortening.

AIDS Community Care Montreal depends, now more than ever, on the help of the people, our community, and Canadians everywhere.

As the only English speaking HIV and Hep C resource in Quebec, we are a lighthouse for prevention and education for people at risk, and intersecting communities.

This World AIDS Day reminds us of our commitment to improve the wellbeing of people living with HIV, eliminate stigma and provide vital services for substance users, women and mothers, newly-diagnosed immigrants, and people aging with HIV.

Join us on December 1st at Parc de l’espoir for the Montreal Vigil at 6pm and for the Day With(out) Art: Meet us where we’re at… at Centre St-Pierre at 7:30pm.
