AIDS Community Care Montreal (ACCM) is looking for a One-one Support Services Coordinator to join the Support Services Department! ACCM is the only English-speaking community organization that offers prevention and support services to people living with or affected by HIV and/or hepatitis C in Quebec. We work in collaboration with our many communities to build a compassionate and caring response to HIV and hepatitis C and do education work that equips people with the knowledge and skills needed to make informed decisions around their sexual health. (Please note that ACCM refers to clients of our services as Members)

The main objective of the One-one Support Services Coordinator is to provide holistic needs assessments, intervention plans, follow-up support, and referrals to our HIV/hep C positive membership, including but not limited to their psychosocial, mental health, food security, housing, employment related needs. The One-one Support Services Coordinator reports to and is evaluated by the Support Services Department Manager.

The One-on-one Support Services Coordinator will have the following core responsibilities:

  • Provide support, develop intervention plans, and manage case files to support Members with mental health, housing, financial, employment, food, and legal aid needs;
  • Facilitate the intake process for new Members, assess their individual needs, and ensure appropriate support and follow up; maintain the case management software up to date accordingly;
  • Create new Member support case files and orient them into ACCM’s support services;
  • Refer Members to other ACCM’s staff from the Support Services Department and/or the Education for Prevention Department for individual counselling, psychosocial support, navigating health care, treatment adherence support, secondary STBBI prevention, HIV disclosure, harm reduction based, substance use practices, or group activities as needed;
  • Refer members to external services as needed; 
  • Coordinate Member-focused support services, including but not limited to the annual tax clinic and the Gazette check holiday fund;
  • Co-develop peer support training to empower Members to take on more general emotional and moral support roles for one another;
  • Provide professional reference letters for members in regards to their needs (parole letters, active Member letters, capacity letters, general reference letters for work, etc.);
  • Maintain and connect ACCM with key networks of HIV, housing, employment, and/or migration and refugee support service organizations and professionals for cross referrals; 
  • Collect evaluation data for reporting purposes and manage the participant database;
  • Recruit, train, and support volunteers and peers;
  • Participate in internal and external committees as needed;
  • Performs all other related tasks related to the nature of the position.

Our ideal candidate has all or a combination of the skills and experience below:

  • Degree in Community Development or Social Work; 
  • Experience in (peer) counselling and individual intervention, support and follow up; 
  • Experience with case management and collaborative work with a support team;
  • Excellent in-person interpersonal and active listening skills as well as ability to demonstrate empathy while maintaining healthy boundaries with Membership; previous experience working with a trauma-informed approach to practice is an asset;
  • Experience with conflict management and deescalation techniques; 
  • Self-motivation & willingness to initiate projects and see them through;
  • Multilingual, at minimum, perfectly fluent in English and French, both written and spoken; 
  • Understands the value of peer support and peer engagement, particularly GIPA/MEPA principles;
  • Experience working with communities disproportionately affected by HIV, hep C, and other STBBIs including but not limited to queer, trans, migrant, Black, Indigenous, Latinx, and Arab communities, as well as people who use substances;
  • Fervent belief in harm reduction, and proven history of practising harm reduction and anti-oppression-based interventions;
  • Knowledge about sexual health, HIV, hepatitis C, STBBIs, and the social drivers of health;
  • Knowledge of Montreal clinic, social services, and community organizations (including contacts and/or previous experience);
  • Believes in the organization’s mission and vision, and will act as an ambassador for ACCM to our partners and external committees.


ACCM operates Monday to Thursday, from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm, with occasional evenings and weekends during group activities and events. The starting pay rate for this position is $21.37 per hour, 32h per week, and includes 3 weeks of paid vacation (on top of 2 weeks over the end of year break), paid sick days as well as a group health insurance plan.
