Support Team Assistant 

(30 hours per week)

AIDS Community Care Montreal (ACCM) is looking for a Support Team Assistant to join our team! ACCM is the only English-speaking community organization that offers prevention and support services to people living with or affected by HIV and/or hepatitis C in Quebec. We work in collaboration with our many communities to build a compassionate and caring response to HIV and hepatitis C and do education work that equips people with the knowledge and skills needed to make informed decisions around their sexual health.

The main objective of the temporary position is to assist the support team with various tasks, such as:

  • Data entry of confidential case data in a secured software;
  • Assistance with administrative processes for newcomers (RAMQ and immigration);
  • Toolbox creation (e.g., checklist, flow chart) for newcomers;
  • Cover reception desk (redirect phone and in-person inquiries);
  • Help out with Members and Group events;
  • Collaborate with other programming staff on joint projects and activities.

Our ideal candidate has all or a combination of the qualities and experience below:

  • Has educational background and/or lived experience in social work or with marginalized populations;
  • Has interest in developing their individual counselling and intervention skills; 
  • Has excellent in-person interpersonal skills and ability to demonstrate empathy; 
  • Is knowledgeable about HIV and immigration processes as well as navigating the healthcare system;
  • Has experience working with communities who are disproportionately affected by HIV, hep C, and other STBBIs such as queer, trans, migrant, Black, Indigenous, Latinx, and Arab communities, as well as people who use drugs;
  • Has a fervent belief in harm reduction, and experience in practising harm reduction and anti-oppression-based interventions.

Specifications

  • ACCM operates from Monday to Thursday, 10:00 am-6:00 pm
  • Salary: $17 per hour 
  • Job type: Part time (30 hours per week) and seasonal (9 to 10 weeks from June to August)
  • Language: English (French is an asset)
  • Start date: June 12, 2023
  • Supervisor: Support team Staff members and Support team Manager

The main objective of the Events Planner  Assistant position is to assist in coordinating activities around ACCM’s 35th Anniversary and Pride events: 

  • Plan the logistics of a fundraising initiative (bike rally arrival); 
  • Plan the logistics of ACCM’s participation with Montreal Pride events; 
  • Assist with planning the logistics of ACCM’s 35th anniversary events; 
  • Assist with finding event-based sponsorships; 
  • Assist the Development Coordinator in other fundraising needs.

Our ideal candidate has all or a combination of the qualities and experiences below:

  • Has interest in developing their event planning and fundraising skills; 
  • Highly organised and detail oriented;
  • Experience in working collaboratively and networking with a diverse group of people;
  • Strong initiative and ability to work independently to meet tight deadlines;
  • Efficient and professional communication skills via phone, email, video conferencing, and in-person; 
  • Excellent spoken and written English and French;
